Mole Check
I have a special interest in skin cancer and its prevention. If a lesion is treated early then there is better prognosis..

Mole check/Whole body check

We all have moles and some people have lots. They can change for a number of reasons including age, pregnancy or sun exposure. Is important to keep an eye on our moles and get them checked if they change size, shape or colour, or if they have been itchy or bleeding. Risks of Melanoma include family history of Melanoma, fair skin with freckles, blue/green eyes or have had excessive sun exposure.

Dr Memon can check individual lesions if there is a concern or carry out whole body examination. In some patients we do take photographs of the lesions for future comparison. He uses dermoscope to examine the moles, it is a device that offers better magnification and as a result adds to a better diagnosis.

Actinic Keratosis

Actinic keratosis is a benign condition but it is considered pre-cancerous as carry a small risk to turn into a skin cancer. It usually manifests as small scaly raised lesions mostly in sun exposed areas such as face, forehead, scalp, and backs of the hands. It is more common in fair skin individuals and people with excessive sun exposure including sunbed use. It is therefore important to treat these lesions effectively and promptly to reduce the risk of skin cancer. There are numerous treatment options available including topical creams and cryotherapy.
